The Snowies MTB Festival celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2025, and Supavest Racing was there in full force!

With a fresh team and eight riders ready to tackle the High Country’s legendary trails, we set out to test our endurance, skill, and determination across five gruelling stages.

Day 1: The Mountain Awakens

Stage 1 – Summit Smash (19.5km | 450VM)

Kicking off at Lake Crackenback Resort, riders battled their way up the Thredbo Valley Trail (TVT) to the base of Friday Flats. The start was a fierce sprint to secure positioning before the single-track sections.

By the 5km mark, the field settled into their race pace, with legs and lungs put to the test.

Stage 1 Results:

  • Scott Reynolds – Elite – 8th with a 58:36
  • Thomas Vidler – 19-39 – 9th  – 1.11.41
  • Tom Newman – 19-39 – 8th – 1.10.32
  • Rodney Rae – 40-49 – 8th – 1.07.00
  • Kevlar – 50-59 – 15th – 1:13:11
  • Peter Monaghan 50-59 – 16th – 1:14:30
  • Karen Evans – 50-59 – 1st – 1:28:27
  • Browny – EBIKE – 1st – 54:33

Stage 2 – The Whole Enchilada (TVT Top to Bottom)

A brutal test of stamina, this stage combined the TVT with a punishing lap around Lake Crackenback. Despite its “downhill” nature, the Lower TVT still packed 538VM, making for an exhausting afternoon under the hot sun.

A split climb at the start shook up the field, and the descent required both speed and precision.

Unfortunately, Karen took a hard hit against a tree, ending her race with a collarbone injury and wish her a speedy recovery!

Day 2: Tactical Racing

Stage 3 – Bungarra Alpine Lodge

This unique race format allowed riders to choose their loops, creating an unpredictable battle. Strategy played a huge role, with most opting for two blue loops and one red.

Supavest Racing riders delivered strong performances, with Rodney Rae securing 2nd place for the stage. The EBIKE duel between Browny and Dave Roberts ended with just 22 seconds between them!

Stage 4 – Lake Crackenback Time Trial (5.5km)

An all-out effort against the clock, this stage saw riders push themselves to the absolute limit. Heavy rain before the race made for perfect trail conditions.

The staggered format meant some riders had to navigate through traffic, but everyone gave it their all.

With nothing left in the tank, it was time to recover before the grand finale.

Day 3: The Final Push

Stage 5 – Release the Cracken (29km XC)

Three laps of Lake Crackenback’s technical XC course stood between the riders and their finisher medals. A fast 400m sprint into the single track set the tone for the race, with lap times hovering around 23 minutes. The Wild Brumby field went off at 8 AM, and the course conditions were near perfect. Every rider left it all on the trail, sealing an incredible weekend of racing.
